Icymi: Lankford Calls OUT Democrats for Forcing a Government Shutdown

WASHINGTON, DC— US Senator James Lankford (R-OK), Senate Republican Conference Vice Chair, called out Democrats for shutting down the government, arguing they chose political games over keeping it open for hardworking Americans.
“Democrats own this government shutdown. Democrats even voted against simply keeping the government open at the current level while we negotiate – they wanted the shutdown to show their political base that they are ‘the resistance’ against President Trump,”said Lankford.“Unfortunately, hardworking Americans and millions of federal employees are left to pay the price for their politics.”

Lankford has made clear that shutdowns punish families, not politicians. He’s repeatedly noted that Democrats passed 13 short-term extensions in recent years, but this time Democrats rejected that path because President Trump is in office.
