Senator César J. Blanco Kicks Off 11th Annual
Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway Series in El Paso
El Paso, Texas - Yesterday, Senator César J. Blanco kicked off his 11th Annual Back-to-School
Backpack Giveaway Series, giving away 460 backpacks to students enrolled at Thomas Manor
Elementary School. Yesterday’s giveaway was the first of a three-part giveaway at schools
across Senate District 29.
Different schools are selected for assistance each year based on the Texas Education Agency's
Economically Disadvantaged Status Reports. These giveaways are held only for those enrolled
and registered at the selected schools.
Senator Blanco issued the following statement:
“With many families facing tough financial choices during the back-to-school season, I’m happy
we can help ease this burden by providing students with free backpacks.
“Watching students light up as they receive their backpacks is a reminder of what this event is all
about, making sure every child has the tools they need to succeed from day one. Every child in
our community deserves to start the school year prepared and confident, ready to learn, grow,
and reach their full potential.
“I want to thank our community and corporate partners who have made this event possible.
Together, we are investing in the future success of so many young learners!”
