PHILADELPHIA, PA — Today, Monday, October 12, 2026, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5), Co-Chair of the House Democratic Commission on AI, visited the University of Pennsylvania to discuss federal AI policy and his work leading the commission. He met with UPenn President Larry Jameson and the university’s top AI researchers for a roundtable and then joined David Meaney, Penn’s Vice Provost for Research, for a fireside chat with Penn faculty and students. “AI is advancing quickly and will have massive benefits for our economy and society as a whole,” said Congressman Gottheimer (NJ-5). “It’s critical that we not only understand it but are prepared for its impact. That’s why it’s great to see top universities like Penn help ensure America continues to lead the way on AI development and education.” Watch Gottheimer’s full address here .
