Rep. Garamendi Statement on Additional ICE Funding
April 30, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman John Garamendi (CA-08) released the following statement after voting NO on the House passed a $140 billion budget increase for Immigration and Customs and Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP): “Republicans’ bill that would again give ICE additional money is exactly what Americans are sick of. Oversized budgets to fund an out-of-control police force. It is a slap in the face to the American people. “The last thing ICE needs is $140 billion more for their slush fund. My Democratic colleagues and I have been clear, ICE needs real oversight, not just a blank check. Since the beginning of Trump’s shutdown, we’ve asked for ten commonsense reforms to Trump’s personal force that would ensure that ICE agents are treated on the same level playing field as every single other police force in America. “I’m a NO on more funding for ICE.” # # # Issues : Immigration
