Schmitt Introduces Legislation to Establish Permanent National Fraud Enforcement Division

Senator Schmitt’s First Legislation as Chair of the Anti-Fraud Task Force U.S. SENATE — Today, U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) chairman of the Senate Anti-Fraud Task Force, introduced legislation to codify the National Fraud Enforcement Division (NFED). By codifying the NFED in statute, the bill would make the division permanent and ensure that the federal government can continue to crack down on rampant fraud and protect taxpayer dollars for years and generations to come. This is the first piece of legislation to come out of the work of Senator Schmitt’s Anti-Fraud Task Force. “Fraud is not a victimless crime. Codifying the NFED is the first step toward strengthening oversight and accountability on behalf of the American people.
