Beyer Statement On Day One Executive Actions

Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA) issued the following statement today on President Trump’s first day executive actions: “President Trump’s day one executive actions are a collection of bad ideas, some of dubious legality or clearly unconstitutional, and many poorly drafted. Collectively they make us less safe, jeopardize services and expertise Americans depend on, and intentionally seek to frighten and bully some of the most marginalized people in this country. “President Trump made no effort to lower costs for the American people, and in fact enacted numerous measures that will raise costs for medicines, housing, food, and energy – in many cases to benefit large corporate interests. Trump was evidently more interested in scamming his supporters with meme coins and lining the pockets of his billionaire donors than he was in following through on his campaign promises to address inflation.”
