Sánchez: IRS firings will hurt American families, increase billionaire tax fraud

Sánchez (D-Calif.), a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee, released the following statement in response to President Trump firing nearly 7,000 IRS employees: “President Trump and Elon Musk are rigging the system to ensure that billionaires like them can get away with tax evasion while hard-working Americans are left with the tab. “For more than a decade, the IRS was brutally underfunded, causing delays in sending refunds and long wait times for customer service. It also allowed the wealthy elite to dodge paying their fair share. “The IRS pays for itself by uncovering and prosecuting real fraud. The Trump-Musk administration pretends to care about tackling fraud, but today’s actions prove they’re not serious at all.
