Congresswoman Brown Hosts Ceremony Honoring OH-11 Youth Advisory Council Graduates

Image May 18, 2025 Press Release Students presented capstone projects on policy issues, were recognized for completion of Youth Advisory Council program Cleveland, OH – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) hosted a ceremony honoring the 2024-25 OH-11 Youth Advisory Council on Saturday May 17 at MAGNET in Cleveland. The event the growth and achievement of the Youth Advisory Council were celebrated. Through participation in Congresswoman Brown’s Youth Advisory Council, students from across Northeast Ohio had the opportunity to learn more about Congress and public service, issues in the community, and develop professional and leadership skills. On Saturday, the students also presented their final capstone projects on policy issues, including on recidivism and reentry, health inequities, improving education, and reducing air pollution. “I am so proud of our 2024-25 OH-11 Youth Advisory Council and I can’t wait to see what they accomplish next. They did great work throughout this program and capped it off with thought-provoking and compelling presentations on serious policy topics. Notably, they didn’t just highlight problems, they also thought about how to engage stakeholders and find solutions. My entire office appreciated all of their work this year and enjoyed seeing these students from across Northeast Ohio learn and grow,” said Congresswoman Shontel Brown. The OH-11 Youth Advisory Council was launched in 2023 and is open to high school students in the 11 th Congressional District. Throughout the school year students learned more about public service, legislation and policy, and how Congress works. Council students also held a congressional hearing, met with local leaders, and volunteered in the community.
