Houchin Bills Advance Out of Subcommittee, Move to Full Energy and Commerce Committee

November 25, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) announced that two of her bills advanced out of House Energy and Commerce subcommittees and will now move to the full Committee for consideration. “I was proud to see two of my bills advance this week on issues that matter to families in Indiana. The Affordable HOMES Act and CABLE Competition Act both remove unnecessary bureaucracy to make it easier for everyday Americans to buy homes and have reliable internet access,” said Rep. Houchin. “I am committed to expanding economic opportunity to ensure our communities thrive. These bills are important steps to make life more affordable, and I will continue to push them forward.” H.R. 5184, the Affordable HOMES Act , introduced with Congressman Mike Flood (NE-01), eliminates unnecessary federal red tape that drives up the cost of manufactured housing. The bill removes the Department of Energy’s authority to regulate manufactured housing energy standards, cutting costly mandates that burden families, builders, and communities. H.R. 4927, the CABLE Competition Act , introduced with Congressman Craig Goldman (TX-12), streamlines the cable franchise transfer process to accelerate broadband expansion in rural and small-town communities. The bill removes unnecessary local approval requirements that often slow down broadband deployment. Both bills now head to the full Energy and Commerce Committee for further consideration.
