Stanton Statement on DOJ Investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Greg Stanton issued the following statement last night on the Department of Justice’s criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell: "The independence of the Fed underpins the strength of the American economy. For too long, business leaders have stayed silent in the face of Trump's authoritarianism out of fear of retribution. Today, a red line has been crossed: Trump is threatening the Fed Chair with criminal charges for refusing to bend to his will.
