WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.) today announced the delivery of $260,000 in federal funding, administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), to modernize and enhance the family travel experience at Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport (BTV). This federal funding is made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) , which Senator Welch supported as a member of the House of Representatives. These two awards mark the first time Vermont has ever received funding through the bill’s Airport Terminal Program (ATP). “This federal investment, made possible through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will make a world of difference for families who rely on BTV to get where they need to go,” said Senator Welch .  “I’m proud to have helped ensure that Vermont received its fair share of this funding and will continue to support investments that make BTV more family-friendly and accessible for Vermonters and visitors alike.” “At Leahy BTV, we pride ourselves on being a friendly, family-focused airport, and we remain committed to enhancing the passenger experience and making Burlington an airport of choice for families and travelers alike. The funding includes $150,000 to support the construction of a children’s play area in the terminal hold room, in addition to $110,000 to install freestanding, ADA-compatible lactation pods and enable the use of smart technology for existing rooms. ###
