Larson Blasts Supreme Court Green Light for Trump to Deny SNAP Benefits
Image November 8, 2025 Press Release East Hartford, CT – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) blasted the Trump Administration’s Friday night emergency appeal and Supreme Court order allowing the President to block the release of funding for SNAP benefits. Yesterday, Governor Lamont announced that Connecticut SNAP recipients will receive their full benefits for the month of November, whether President Trump agrees to send federal funding for food assistance or not. “Donald Trump spent his Friday night rushing to the Supreme Court to block food assistance from reaching hungry families,” said Larson. “It is beyond disappointing to see a court once held in high regard, irrespective of how their members were appointed, grant this president’s cruel desire to inflict pain on the children, the disabled, the elderly, and veterans. It is a sad day in America when President Trump, a man who has never had to worry about where his next meal comes from, is given the green light to take food out of the mouths of children. I remain grateful that thankfully, Governor Lamont is stepping up to make sure our state’s SNAP recipients are made whole. In Connecticut, we don’t play politics with people’s lives. The shame is that the highest court in the land would bow to the whims of this president, knowing that under the law, SNAP benefits must go out, supported with contingency funding already approved by Congress.” Issues : Children and Families Judicial Standing Up to Trump and ‘DOGE’
