Rep. Salazar Cosponsors Bipartisan Resolution Demanding Justice for Victims of the AMIA Terrorist Bombing

Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25), Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26), Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Darren Soto (FL-09), and Michael Rulli (OH-06) in introducing a bipartisan resolution commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the 1994 terrorist bombing of the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires and demanding justice and accountability for those responsible. On July 18, 1994, the AMIA bombing killed 85 people and injured more than 300, making it the deadliest terrorist attack in Argentina's history. Argentine authorities have long concluded that the attack was planned by the Iranian regime and carried out by its terrorist proxy, Hezbollah. More than three decades later, those responsible have yet to face justice. The resolution honors the victims of the AMIA bombing, expresses solidarity with Argentina's Jewish community, condemns the role of Iran and Hezbollah in the attack, and reaffirms the United States' commitment to pursuing justice and accountability. "The AMIA bombing was not only an attack on Argentina's Jewish community. It was an attack on a democratic nation by the Iranian regime and its terrorist proxy, Hezbollah. Thirty-two years later, one lesson remains as urgent as ever: when the world fails to hold state sponsors of terrorism accountable, they become emboldened to strike again," said Rep. Salazar .
