October 1, 2025 Press Release Washington, D.C. — Congressman Brandon Gill (TX-26) today responds to the federal government funding lapse in fiscal appropriations caused by Senate Democrats’ failure to pass the House's continuing resolution. "Democrats created this crisis. Republicans did our job and passed bipartisan legislation to keep the government open, but Democrats are holding the government hostage by refusing to vote for the same continuing resolution they’ve voted for in the past,” said Rep. Gill. “It’s extremely hypocritical, and they’re now demanding taxpayer funded handouts for illegal aliens—a nonstarter for my district. Background: On September 19, 2025, House Republicans passed a clean continuing resolution, sending the bill over to the Senate for consideration.
