Leader Thune must keep DHS $$ separate, like House did, so we can pass all other appropriations. Everyone sees DHS needs work.

Reads a lot like “hand over sensitive voter information or the chaos continues.”

Even the WSJ editorial page calls out the lies! “The Trump Administration spin on this simply isn’t believable. Stephen Miller, the political architect of the mass deportation policy, called Pretti a ‘domestic terrorist.’ He was a nurse without a criminal record.”

Some get it, but will they do anything?

Pretty stunning to think that the subject of an order to block destruction of evidence is the U.S. government. It’s TrumpWorld.

MAGA DAG Blanche on Pretti killing: “make no mistake about it, you cannot look at a ten-second video and judge what happened.” So will you do a legit investigation, or sweep it under the rug like Renee Good killing?

The Wall Street Journal questions the Trump administration version of events. Pretty soon, no one will believe them.

Bellingcat does good work. They're the ones who proved Russians shot down Malaysia airliner and who tracked and identified Russian attempted killers of Alexei Navalny. bsky.app/profile/did:...

Here’s another Bellingcat series on an agent using “less lethal” munitions.

David Brooks is joined by Reagan alum Peggy Noonan, questioning the mental condition that drives Trump to disrupt things to entertain himself. More and more, the question of his mental condition moves to the forefront.

I developed the INFRA program to support projects like the reconstruction of the Providence Viaduct, the heart of RI’s highway system. Thrilled to celebrate the completion of RI’s first INFRA-funded project at the Viaduct, with more ribbon cuttings to come!

Doubt me? Check out how your grid works and what the numbers are. RevWind brings 9-cent power to an 18-cent grid, saving hundreds of millions.
- SW
It’s a scam: ban or slow inexpensive clean energy so big Trump fossil fuel donors make billions off you with otherwise-derelict polluting units.
- SW
Developers alleged savings to consumers; administration did not deny that in court but continued to lie about that in public.
- SW
Think about that. The U.S. government comes into court alleging national security danger and no judge believes them. What a crew.
- SW
One developer called the Trump national security justification a “pretext,” and won. Three for three, judges found that excuse not credible.
- SW
The Trump administration is losing because the Trump administration is lying. Courts don’t appreciate that.

This is the cascade I warn of: climate risk crashes insurance markets, which crashes mortgage markets, which crashes home values, tanking the economy.

As we adapt to the climate crisis, funding from my National Coastal Resilience Fund will help strengthen infrastructure for communities like Johnston and New Shoreham facing frequent floods. Glad to announce ~$1.2M in funding to further resiliency initiatives across the state.

Imagine if Joe Biden threatened attacking Greenland and then in front of a world audience confused Greenland and Iceland. Mental competence questions would rage.

ICE should learn a little history.

I know something about all this because my father was ambassador to Laos at the time, after years of service in the Vietnam conflict. I lived in Laos for a year before college.

Rhode Island and Minnesota were the two of the most welcoming states to Hmong refugees, and I’m proud to represent my Hmong constituents.
- SW
Grateful officials who had served with them worked to expedite their passage from the camps to the U.S.
- SW
Hundreds were rescued in that unauthorized airlift, but most had to flee into the mountains, hunted by the Pathet Lao, and work their way to camps across the border in Thailand to queue up for refuge in the United States.
- SW
Legend has it that one pilot pointed his pistol at an airbase official trying to keep him from getting to the runway.
- SW
Loyalty was mutual. When we abruptly left Laos, CIA and military pilots flew unauthorized missions from our Thai airbases in “borrowed” aircraft into Long Tieng to bring out their abandoned comrades-in-arms and their families.
- SW
They were loyal and brave and effective. Our U.S. military attaché in Laos Gen. Dick Trefry said after the war that were it not for the Hmong troops operating in Northern Laos, “there’d be a thousand more names on the Vietnam Memorial” in Washington.
- SW
They opposed the communist Pathet Lao, and fought to protect their territorial home. They helped rescue downed pilots and disrupt the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
- SW
During the Vietnam conflict, the CIA supported a Hmong military force operating out of a base in Laos called Long Tieng, run by a general named Vang Pao.

The gentleman who ICE hauled without cause out of his home in his underwear into the icy Minnesota winter (after terrifying his 5-year-old grandson) was from Laos, one of the Hmong hill tribes people of the then-Kingdom of Laos. You should know a bit about the background of those people. 🧵

The conclusion is worth reading in its entirety, but here’s the punchline: “this charade of Ms. Halligan [elsewhere in the order described as a “miscreant”!] masquerading as the United States Attorney for this District in direct defiance of binding court orders must come to an end.”

Oceans keep setting new heat records (by the zettajoule), raising the cost to us of fossil fuel’s climate crisis.

The beloved Ocean Mist in 1991 (all that beach!) vs. today. Climate change is driving up RI sea levels faster and faster. Fossil fuel lying and denying can’t change these facts.

Time to reconsider Trump/Russia? Why Trump, who needs dominance in every relationship, goes submissive with Putin? Why everything Trump does helps, pleases, or goes easy on Putin? (War criminal on Board of Peace!)
- SW
Russia’s greatest constraint is NATO. Russia fears NATO. Russia won’t touch Greenland because of NATO. Just look at Russia’s open celebrations of Trump’s Greenland gambit. They’ve figured this out. It’s not complicated.
- SW
Trump’s argument makes no sense until you consider whom his nonsense helps. Not America; not NATO; not Denmark or Greenland — the person it helps is Vladimir Putin; the country it helps is Russia. Cui bono? Remember that principle: Cui bono.
- SW
The greatest danger of Russia taking Greenland comes from a damaged NATO, precisely what Trump is doing. Trump is the threat he warns us about. Trump’s argument about that threat makes no sense. Almost.
- SW
Trump says Denmark isn’t protected enough against this imaginary threat. Actually, Denmark has done the most powerful thing it can to protect against that supposed threat: join NATO (a founding member!).
- SW
Trump says US needs Greenland to protect Greenland from Russia. That is probably not in the top 100 national security threats we face. It is not a threat I have once ever heard mentioned, until now.
- SW
69-22, Americans feel utility costs going up. They are. Believe your own eyes. Trump keeps inexpensive clean energy off the grid to pay off his big fossil fuel donors. It’s on purpose; a deliberate scam to make you pay more so his corrupt fossil fuel donors make more.
