Gas is $4 a gallon. It hits you at the pump. It hits you on your utility bills. And it hits you as prices go up for groceries, manufactured goods, and so much more.

“It is increasingly evident that the greatest threat now comes from inside our own government.” This morning in the New York Times, I lay out the stakes for this administration’s election interference.

Trump has the audacity to say that “we don’t need the Strait of Hormuz” and that the energy crisis “isn’t affecting our country.” Anyone that’s filled up their tank recently would have to disagree.

This week, we showed that raising your voice works. We got Senate Republicans to fund the rest of DHS with NO additional funding for ICE or CBP. We’re still successfully blocking the SAVE Act. There’s a lot more we need to do, but these are two good steps.
- MW
After over a month of delay, Senate Republicans finally came forward to do what we’ve been pushing for — fund TSA, Coast Guard, and other key elements of DHS while we keep pushing for reforms to ICE and CBP. The House needs to get it done ASAP.

While gas prices skyrocket and everything you buy becomes more expensive, Republicans’ top priority is trying to force through an unpopular voter suppression bill. They know they can’t win without it.
- MW
Noncitizen voting is extraordinarily rare – in many audits, less than one hundreth of one percent of all votes cast. The SAVE Act is a total sham, cracking down on a problem that isn’t real.

More at the pump. More on groceries. And now more on anything brought to you by USPS. All courtesy of Trump’s war of choice.

At a moment when threats from abroad are growing more complex and more dangerous, we should be reinforcing the principle that no one is above the law, not rewriting history to benefit those who violated the public trust.
- MW
It undermines the rule of law, demeans the work of the men and women who safeguard our national security, and suggests that accountability depends on who you are and who you know, not what you’ve done.

For this Justice Department to now turn around and reward that behavior with a million-dollar settlement sends exactly the wrong message to our adversaries, to our intelligence professionals, and to the American people.
- MW
This is someone who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian officials at a time when Russia was actively interfering in our democratic process, after being charged by the Department of Justice during President Trump’s first term.
- MW
The Department of Justice’s reported decision to pay out more than a million of the taxpayer’s dollars to Michael Flynn is as outrageous as it is indefensible.

Planning on booking a summer vacation? Airline costs are already spiking thanks to fuel impacts from Trump’s war of choice with Iran. Absolutely everything is skyrocketing because of this costly, stupid war.

This is a solid first step towards accountability for some of the addictive & harmful measures Big Tech has aimed at users, especially minors, but we’re gonna need a lot more action, including passing bills like my DETOUR Act, to permanently build a safer & more humane internet.

We aren’t ready for the downstream impacts of this. When costs in Asia go up, we pay more for electronics, clothes, and much more – on top of higher gas prices.

The war with Iran is costing you through your tax dollars – but it’s also unleashing higher prices on gas, groceries, utilities, and more. This week on my YouTube channel, I break down all the unexpected ways this war spikes your costs.

A third of the world’s fertilizer passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Now that traffic is effectively stopped. If this conflict stretches on, we could be looking at huge downstream price increases at the grocery store and across the economy, plus everything you pay at the pump.

Our democracy is built on the principle of free and fair elections. With the SAVE Act, Trump is trying to take voting rights away from millions all because he can’t get over losing in 2020.

Democrats have been blocked from passing funding for DHS agencies 7 times. Trump needs to stop playing partisan games at the expense of federal workers and the safety and convenience of Americans. It’s past time to fund TSA and other DHS agencies and implement common sense reforms to ICE and CBP.

It’s been months and Donald Trump and Tulsi Gabbard are still changing their stories about what she was doing at the raid of a local election facility.

Trump’s response to being asked about Iran is “I may have a plan or I may not.” Servicemembers’ lives are being risked in Trump’s war of choice. They and their families deserve concrete answers from their Commander-in-Chief on the goals and objectives of this conflict.

I am keeping the loved ones of the Air Canada crew who were killed and the passengers and New York Port Authority staff who were injured in my thoughts today. Tragedies like this are a reminder of why the NTSB must be allowed to do its job, free from partisan jockeying and stunts.

Democrats - and now members of the Republican leadership - have attempted to fund TSA and most of DHS only to continuously be blocked by President Trump. Let’s be clear: Trump is responsible for the DHS shutdown.

The White House’s AI framework takes some steps in the right direction but is severely lacking in substance. Our country desperately needs comprehensive legislation that counters deepfakes, mis- and disinformation, and other growing threats to our democratic elections and markets.

The SAVE America Act does the exact opposite of what its name implies. It places needless burdens on everyone from servicemembers to rural voters to people with disabilities.

Trump’s war of choice is risking the lives of thousands of U.S. servicemembers as he deploys 2,500 more to the Middle East.

Experts estimate that the war in Iran is costing taxpayers $1 billion a day. With that money, Trump could provide tariff refunds to every household in America or fund affordable health care for millions. Trump is the president of rising costs!

Eid Mubarak! I’m wishing all Muslims a wonderful celebration of Eid al-Fitr — I hope you had a reflective and restorative holy season.

As if lifting Russian sanctions wasn’t enough, now the Trump admin is weighing lifting sanctions on… Iran. Why would we pad the pockets of our greatest adversaries, particularly when these changes wouldn’t even significantly lower gas prices?
- MW
Trump’s war of choice is widening and creating a worldwide energy crisis. We need leaders who understand the severity of the moment and can rise to the occasion. Not leaders who would rather feign ignorance than disagree with Trump.

The SAVE Act isn’t saving anyone. It’s a regressive, backwards bill that threatens to disenfranchise millions. I’m voting NO.
- MW
I support requiring voters to show identification, like we do in Virginia. However, the SAVE Act discriminates against servicemembers, married women, rural Americans, and anyone else who doesn’t have a passport or their birth certificate on hand. (2/2)

The SAVE Act is the most blatant attempt at voter suppression in ages. (1/2)

I think a third of all entry-level jobs could be wiped out by AI… and if that happens, we’re all gonna get hit with a massive economic downturn. I’m working on bipartisan solutions with some unexpected partners to get ahead of these changes and protect your job from AI.

The Trump administration has literally taken hundreds of steps to make us less safe. Today in the Intel Committee, I’m pressing Kash Patel, Tulsi Gabbard, and others on those actions.

Today, I get to publicly press Kash Patel, Tulsi Gabbard, and other senior members of the intelligence community on what the heck the Trump administration is doing in Iran, to potentially interfere in our upcoming elections, and more. Stay tuned.

The so-called SAVE Act is nothing but Republicans’ pretext for voter suppression. The bill is undemocratic and un-American.

Last summer, Trump laid off 1,300 State Department workers, including many of the agency's oil and gas experts. Would Americans be paying less at the pump if those who were supposed to have oversight of the Strait of Hormuz were still on the payroll?
