We all know Mackinac Island as one of our top vacation spots. But I got the behind-the-scenes tour of the public servants, police and fire departments that keep an island with no cars safe.

There is a very common playbook leaders use when they fear they are going to lose an election. I break down how President Trump is following that authoritarian playbook. youtube.com/shorts/BGjH_...

Michigan invented the idea that the worker assembling the car could afford to buy it. That spirit is alive and well today. Because of @uaw.org's solidarity, workers in Local 2093 will more fairly share in the wealth they create. Congrats to all involved!

Time and again, Secretary Hegseth has dodged, deflected, and tried to change the subject. This is in line with the President saying over and over again that if his side loses, the election is rigged, including this week.
- ES
Under oath, during an Armed Services hearing, Secretary Hegseth was not able to bring himself to say the words: it is illegal to deploy the military to our polls. That’s not a hard question. It has been illegal for over 150 years, and this administration won't rule it out.

I led this effort to protect our elections from military interference, and importantly, to protect service members from the kind of illegal orders I warned about last year. It’s concerning that no Republicans on the committee voted to include them. www.ms.now/news/troops-...

Republicans and Democrats across Michigan are united. Michigan needs a federal disaster declaration to help bring relief to communities following extreme weather damage back in April.

Thanks for having me for a fireside chat, Detroit Economic Club. If we want to grow and improve our state, conversations like these are critical.

Last week, President Trump doubled down on his desire to use $1.8 billion of taxpayer money for those he thinks have been personally wronged, including people convicted of violent crimes against police officers. We have a bill to stop it.

It’s all about access. And with President Trump’s cuts to healthcare, access is at risk for women across Michigan. These badass women are fighting to protect it.

I met with @reproductivefreedomforall.org President Mini Timmaraju and their members from Michigan to discuss reproductive healthcare and family planning. Folks tend to forget that although Prop 3 passed in Michigan, attacks on women's health are still happening in our state and across the country.

Earlier this year President Trump made false claims about "rigged elections" in his State of the Union. Today, it's the California election. He continues to say that if his side loses, it's because it is rigged. We need to listen to what this means, and act accordingly.

Bill Pulte has shown that he will go into Americans' personal records to weaponize the government against people. I have a fundamental problem with someone like that being the Director of National Intelligence, and it should send a shiver down the spine of every American.

It’s not every day my job takes me to a cheese cave. The agritourism industry is thriving Up North, and with places like Leelanau Cheese Company and Shady Lane Cellars it’s not hard to see why. (oh, and happy National Cheese Day to those who celebrate)

The Farm Bureau was with us and we talked about the year’s crop, trade policy and the special blend of hard work and grit needed to be a cherry farmer in America.

Visits like this are a great chance for me to hear directly from family farmers on what hurdles they face when dealing with government, so that I can bang pots and pans in D.C. to get them some relief.

It’s hard to overstate just how important cherries are to northern Michiganders. As a member of the Ag Committee, I take any chance I can get to visit our specialty crop farmers, like Royal Farms in Ellsworth.

President Trump is doubling down on his $1.8 billion taxpayer-funded slush fund. Another reminder that we cannot take anyone's word for it. The fund is not dead until it is dead. We need to pass our bill, the Drain the Slush Fund Act, to do just that. www.cnn.com/2026/06/03/p...

So this Pride Month, that’s the mission — on behalf of those who fought in a very different time, and for those who are just starting out in life.

I know she would be so proud of the progress that’s been made since her time. But I also know she’d be dismayed by some of the backsliding that’s gone on, and would want us to keep on fighting.

Happy Pride Month! This month is important for many reasons but for me, it’s impossible not to think about my mom. She came out in the 1980’s — though I’m not sure she would have called it coming out, since we hid it from most people in suburban Detroit at that time.
