The bipartisan American Decade of Sports Act would require the Department of State to develop a comprehensive sports diplomacy strategy that leverages the many global sporting events the United States will host over the next decade, establishing the “Mega-Decade of Sports Diplomacy.” Working through the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the strategy would guide U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide, coordinate with U.S. host cities and states, engage key diaspora communities, and promote American sports culture, alongside U.S. industry and tourism, to international audiences. Between 2024 and 2034, the U.S. will host or has already hosted the 2024 Copa America Soccer Tournament, the 2025 Club World Cup Soccer Tournament, the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, the 2031 Men’s and 2033 Women’s Rugby World Cup, and the 2034 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. “For the next decade, the United States has the unique opportunity to be the host to many of the largest sporting events around the world. From the FIFA World Cup to the Rugby World Cup to the Olympics, these events provide a stage for the U.S. to bring visitors from around the globe and boost our tourism economy,” said Senator Rosen. “I am proud that my bipartisan bill to create a sports diplomacy strategy to be able to leverage the incredible opportunity we have has passed out of committee.” Senator Rosen continues to be a champion for the travel and tourism industry. Her bipartisan Expanded Consular Fellows Act , which also passed the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, would strengthen the State Department’s visa processing, making travel to the U.S. more efficient and accessible. Senator Rosen also led Senate Democrats in demanding that the Trump Administration reverse a rule authorizing the State Department to conduct social media screenings of visitors because of concerns that it will harm international tourism. At the beginning of the year, Senator Rosen called for a Senate hearing on the state of American Tourism following a year of Trump’s reckless economic policies. ### Facebook-f Instagram Youtube Flickr Contact Email Jacky Request a Meeting Office Locations Newsletter Signup Privacy Policy Contact Email Jacky Request a Meeting Office Locations Newsletter Signup Privacy Policy For Nevadans Constituent Services Help With a Federal Agency Flag Requests Tour Requests Internships Senate Page Nominations Academy Nominations For Nevadans Constituent Services Help With a Federal Agency Flag Requests Tour Requests Internships Senate Page Nominations Academy Nominations Resource Guides Veterans Resource Guide Senior Resource Guide Small Business Pocket Guide Federal Funding Grant Requests Appropriations Requests Community Project Funding Resource Guides Veterans Resource Guide Senior Resource Guide Small Business Pocket Guide Federal Funding Grant Requests Appropriations Requests Community Project Funding About Jacky Biography Committees Voting Record Legislation News Press Releases In the News Videos About Jacky Biography Committees Voting Record Legislation News Press Releases In the News Videos
