Warner & Kaine Announce Over $15.5 Million in Federal Funding for Virginia Airports
WASHINGTON. D.C. –Today, U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) announced$15,553,713in federal funding to support infrastructure improvements at six airports across Virginia. This funding comes through theU.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program, made possible by theBipartisan Infrastructure Law.
“Investing in our airports is a crucial component of strengthening Virginia’s economy and keeping travelers safe,”the senators said. “We’re proud to support this funding and will keep working to foster growth and convenient transportation in the Commonwealth.”
The funding is broken down as follows:
Warner and Kaine have long supported efforts to improve Virginia’s airports and have securedmillions in federal fundingfor airports across Virginia through theBipartisan Infrastructure Law. This week the senators have already announcedover $21 millionin funding for Virginia airports, building on the over$5 millionannounced earlier this month and the more than$12 millionannounced in January. In October 2024, they announcednearly $57 millionin federal funding for revitalization efforts, and in September 2024 they announced more than$46 millionin federal funding for improvements to Virginia airports through the Airport Improvement Program. The senators have previouslyannounced $104.6 millionin combined federal funding for the new terminal building at Washington Dulles International Airport.
