Hoeven Announces More Than $27 Million In LIHEAP Funding For North Dakota & Tribal Communities

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded more than $27 million through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to help North Dakota households and tribal communities afford home heating and energy costs. The funding includes: $20,760,234 to the State of North Dakota. $2,458,803 to the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. $1,639,202 to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. $1,366,002 to the Spirit Lake Tribe. $1,092,801 to the Three Affiliated Tribes (Fort Berthold). “LIHEAP provides important assistance to families across North Dakota during cold winter months,” said Hoeven. “These funds will help ensure low-income households are able to keep their homes warm and safe.” LIHEAP is a federally funded program that helps eligible low-income households manage home energy costs, including heating assistance and energy-related emergencies. -###-
