Clarke Introduces Invest ACT to Deliver TAX Relief to Employers WHO HIRE Veterans

Clarke introduced the Incentives for our Nation’s Veterans in Energy Sustainability Technologies (INVEST) Act, which would expand the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) for employers who hire veterans who have completed the free vocational training program offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. In 2021, the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that there are almost 400 thousand unemployed veterans in the United States. This legislation would simultaneously address the veteran unemployment crisis and advance the United States’ fight against the climate crisis. “Too often in America, we have seen our most critical priorities cast aside and disregarded in the name of profit, convenience, and carelessness. Perhaps nowhere is that more evident than the institutional neglect that is faced by our veterans and forced upon our climate. Both have suffered from inaction, and that is why we have a moral, patriotic duty to support both. At a time when hundreds of thousands of veterans confront unemployment while scores of green-collar jobs remain unfilled, my INVEST Act is a meaningful opportunity to provide the boost our clean energy economy needs and the action America’s veterans deserve.
