Kevin Kiley (I-CA) sent a letter to Leader Hakeem Jeffries urging him to support his legislation, H.R. 4889 , a bill that prohibits mid-decade redistricting unless a federal court orders a new map to be drawn. “I have opened a discharge position to bring this legislation to a vote on the House Floor. No one is winning with the ‘Redistricting Wars.’ Our Country is losing and it is past time for cooler heads to prevail. For the sake of our democracy, this chaos must end.” In an interview with Puck News on May 7, Leader Jeffries stated, “We will continue to proceed aggressively until there is one national standard that prohibits mid-decade gerrymandering for everyone.” So far, Texas, California, Missouri, Ohio, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida have enacted new maps into law. Furthermore, Louisiana, Alabama, and South Carolina have both pledged to redistrict for the 2028 elections. Click here to read Rep. Kiley’s full letter. ### Share on
