Booker Joins Bipartisan Resolution Honoring Victims, Survivors, and First Responders on 25th Anniversary of 9/11

WASHINGTON, D.C . – On the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) joined a bipartisan group of colleagues in introducing a Senate resolution honoring the victims, survivors, and first responders of 9/11, as well as the service members who defended the United States in the years that followed. The resolution pays tribute to the 2,977 people killed in Lower Manhattan, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. It honors the 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, and eight emergency medical technicians and paramedics who were killed responding to the attacks; the 55 military personnel killed at the Pentagon; and the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93, who fought back and kept the hijackers from reaching their target in Washington. The resolution also recognizes the charitable foundations, nonprofits, labor and faith-based organizations, and community groups that have spent a quarter century serving survivors and the families of those lost. "Twenty-five years later, we still carry that day with us — the nearly 3,000 lives lost, and the courage of the firefighters, police officers, and first responders who ran toward danger to save others," said Senator Cory Booker. "New Jersey lost hundreds of our neighbors that morning, and families across our state have carried that grief every day since. This resolution is the Senate's way of saying we have not forgotten — not the victims, not their families, and not the heroes whose sacrifice is a debt we can never fully repay. I'm proud to join Senator Gillibrand and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in honoring their memory." The resolution is led by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).
