Durbin Statement On Trump Firing Attorney General Pam Bondi

SPRINGFIELD – U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released the following statement after President TrumpfiredAttorney General Pam Bondi:
“Pam Bondi’s legacy will be the weaponization of the world’s preeminent law enforcement agency for Donald Trump’s personal benefit, but apparently even she didn’t go far enough to appease him.
“Donald Trump wants an unyielding loyalist who will cover up his crimes, prosecute his perceived enemies, and carry out his bidding—even if it means endangering the American people and violating the Constitution.
“It’s time for all Americans—my Republican colleagues included—to tell this President to end the charade and nominate an Attorney General whose loyalty is to the American public and the rule of law.”
