<p style="line-height: 170%;"><strong>H.R. 5688 – the Non-Domiciled CDL Integrity Act</strong><br />
– Codifies a new US Department of Transportation (USDOT) Interim Final Rule that drastically restricts who is eligible for non-domiciled commercial learner’s permits (CLPs) and commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs).<br />
– The rule will make non-citizens ineligible for a non-domiciled CDL unless they meet a much stricter set of rules, including an employment-based visa and undergoing a mandatory federal immigration status check using the SAVE system.<br />
<strong>H.R. 4583 – the Living Donor Protection Act</strong><br />
– Prohibits insurance companies from denying or canceling life, health, disability, or long-term health insurance to someone who is classified as a “living organ donor”.<br />
– The bill also codifies the 2018 Department of Labor opinion letter, ensuring that organ donation surgery is recognized as a qualifying medical condition under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).</p>
