June 2nd, 2026Heinrich Statement Opposing Bill Pulte as Acting Director of National Intelligence
WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement opposing President Trump’s appointment of Bill Pulte as Acting Director of National Intelligence: “Bill Pulte lacks the national security experience and judgment required to protect the American people from terrorism and foreign threats. Because instead of working to protect Americans, Bill Pulte has proven all too willing to exact retribution against any American that President Trump deems his personal enemy. “The Director of National Intelligence, Acting or otherwise, should be focused on providing independent, objective assessments of threats to our nation, not advancing the president’s political interests. Americans deserve a Director of National Intelligence who is nonpartisan, experienced, and committed solely to safeguarding our country. Anything less puts our security at risk.” ###
