Barrasso Applauds $205 Million Award for Wyoming’s Rural Health Fund

Wyoming will receive $205,004,743 to implement its plan to expand rural healthcare access, stabilize rural hospitals and make Wyoming healthy again.
CASPER, WY — Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) announced the State of Wyoming’s application for the $50 billion rural health fund, created by theWorking Families Tax Cut Act,has been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Wyoming will receive $205,004,743 in 2026 to implementits planto expand rural healthcare access, stabilize rural hospitals and make Wyoming healthy again.
“The State of Wyoming has a smart and targeted plan to address our unique healthcare challenges,”said Barrasso. “With this over $205 million award, Wyoming can get to work expanding access to care, recruiting and training new health providers and strengthening rural healthcare across our state. Thanks to theWorking Families Tax Cut Act, rural health providers will have the funding and resources we need to keep caring for patients in frontier communities.”
TheWorking Families Tax Cut Actcreated aRural Health Transformation (RHT) Program. RHT Program funding is $50 billion to be allocated to approved States over five fiscal years, with $10 billion of funding available each fiscal year, beginning in fiscal year 2026 and ending in fiscal year 2030. This will give Wyoming hospitals, clinics, and health centers access to more than $500 million to help ensure high-quality care remains available across our frontier state.
States were required to submit a plan by early November for how they would use these funds and apply to CMS to receive these grants. On December 29, 2025, CMS announced the awards for each state.
