Klobuchar, Smith Announce Federal Education Funding for Rochester Unfrozen

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Tina Smith (D-MN) announced that the U.S. Department of Education has unfrozen $1,442,300 in funding for Rochester Public Schools. This money will be distributed to fund ten 21st Century Learning Centers at five Rochester district schools and community programs, including the Boys & Girls Club of Rochester, the Somali American Social Service Association, Pamoja Women, and the Sports Mentorship Academy.
“We must continue to support our public schools and community programs so that our children can thrive,”
said Klobuchar.
“I fought to restore this funding for Rochester so families and schools didn’t lose out on vital programs.”
“This funding never should have been frozen in the first place. It’s just another example of reckless cuts to funding that schools and communities rely on to support kids and families,”
said Smith.
“I’m glad we pushed to get the money flowing to Rochester again. If this administration is going to shell out tax cuts for billionaires, the least they can do is follow through on funding that was already promised to our public schools.”
