OWENS: The DOE’s Reign of Failure is Over

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Education and Workforce Committee Vice Chair Burgess Owens (R-UT) released the following statement applauding President Trump’s Executive Order returning education to parents and students.

“Since 1979, unelected bureaucrats at the Department of Education have led a historic reign of failure, draining trillions from taxpayers while leaving America’s students, parents, and teachers behind. Test scores are at record lows, millions of kids are stuck in failing schools, and parents are shut out—all while radical agendas take priority over academic achievement and classrooms are strangled with endless regulations and top-down mandates.

“Working with President Trump and Secretary McMahon, Congress will champion the legislative efforts needed to make this vision a reality, restoring local control, slashing red tape, and improving outcomes—so every child, no matter their ZIP code, gets the education they deserve.”
