Padilla Statement on Republicans’ Billionaires-First Budget Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), a member of the Senate Budget Committee, issued the following statement after Senate Republicans voted to advance their reconciliation budget bill that lays the groundwork to give massive handouts to billionaires at the expense of working-class Americans: “While families face high prices for groceries and housing, Republicans are in a race to deliver huge tax breaks to the billionaire class. The Senate Republican budget bill does nothing to bring down prices or tackle inflation for working families. Instead, Republicans are laying the groundwork for massive cuts to critical programs that families across California rely on like Medicaid, Social Security, and nutrition assistance. California deserves better, and I will continue to expose the truth about this destructive bill.” ###
