Congressman Tim Moore Introduces Let Americans Buy with Explicit Labeling (LABEL) Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Yesterday, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) introduced H.R. 10580, the Let Americans Buy with Explicit Labeling Act (LABEL) Act, to require that country of origin and production method (wild or farm-raised) labels for fish be clearly displayed on the front of consumer packages through amending the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946.
“Every American deserves to know where their food comes from,” said Congressman Tim Moore. “The LABEL Act helps ensure consumers have clear information about where their seafood was caught or raised and how it was produced, right on the front of the package.”
Original cosponsors include Randy Weber (R-TX). This legislation was introduced in the Senate by Senator Hyde-Smith (R-MS) and cosponsored by Senators Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and Adam Schiff (D-CA). The text is also included in the Agricultural Act of 2026.
This legislation also has support from the American Shrimp Processors Association (ASPA), Louisiana Shrimp Association, Southern Shrimp Alliance, and Organized Seafood Association of Alabama.
