It is an honor to see these legislative initiatives cross the finish line,” said Congressman Blake Moore. “I am hopeful for the ways these bills will enhance the lives of our recreationalists, children and families in the welfare system, and our servicemembers. I am encouraged by these accomplishments and look forward to building on this success in the 119th Congress.” Information on the legislation signed into law is below: The Range Access Act: Promotes and expands access to safe recreational target shooting practice by requiring that the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) ensure that each National Forest and BLM district has at least one designated public recreational shooting range that does not require a user fee. This bill was passed as part of the House Natural Resources Committee’s EXPLORE Act. Read more about the Range Access Act here. The Court Improvement Program Enhancement Act: Enhances the Court Improvement Program (CIP) so courts can promote quality care and improved outcomes for children and families; clarifies that CIP funds may be used towards technological improvements including technology support for remote hearings and to coordinate with other agencies on backup approaches to prevent disruption and enable recovery from public health crises, natural disasters, cyber-attacks, and more; and revamps current state court requirements to better handle foster care and adoption proceedings by allowing state courts to use CIP funds for remote hearing technology and training for judges, attorneys, and other legal personnel to improve parent, family, and youth engagement in child welfare proceedings. This bill was passed as part of the House Ways and Means Committee’s Supporting America’s Children and Families Act. Read more about the Court Improvement Program Enhancement Act here.
