Kiley Meets with West Sacramento Mayor Guerrero, Offers Support for I Street Bridge Replacement Project Jun 23, 2026 In the Community Washington, D.C. – The 110-year-old I Street bridge over the Sacramento River desperately needs to be replaced, local officials, including West Sacramento Mayor Martha Guerrero, told U.S. Rep. Kevin Kiley (I-CA) at a special briefing organized by the mayor. A new bridge will provide a new connection across the Sacramento River between the Sacramento Railyards and the West Sacramento Washington Neighborhood planned developments. “I would like to thank Mayor Guerrero for organizing this event and working together in a bipartisan way to address this important regional challenge,” said Rep. Kiley . “The current bridge is simply inadequate. This new bridge will be an economic asset that benefits everyone in the area by reducing traffic and creating connections and jobs. I look forward to working with Mayor Guerrero and the entire community to make this dream a reality.” “The I Street Bridge Replacement Project is a once-in-a-generation investment to replace an aging over 100-year-old bridge that no longer meets the needs of our growing region. We are grateful to Congressman Kiley for his support and partnership in helping secure the remaining funding needed to move this transformative project forward, improving safety, connectivity, and economic opportunity for generations to come,” said Mayor Martha Guerrero, City of West Sacramento. “The I Street Bridge Replacement Project is a generational investment in the future of our region. Delivering this project will unlock economic opportunity, improve transportation choices, and strengthen the connection between Sacramento and West Sacramento for decades to come. Congressman Kiley’s support is instrumental as we work to secure the funding necessary to advance this critical regional priority,” said Councilmember Phil Pluckebaum, City of Sacramento. “Operating Engineers Local #3 would like to commend Congressman Kiley for his support in helping to secure the necessary funding for this much-needed project,” added John Rector, District Representative, Operating Engineers Local 3 . “The I Street Bridge Replacement Project will make vast improvements to both communities, creating local job opportunities for the residents and our members. Projects like these build careers with fair wages and benefits, it’s not just another job. We are proud to support this project and are ready to lead the way on this important piece of our local infrastructure.” More information about the project can be found here , and photos from the bridge tour can be found here . ### Share on
