Ernst Names Small Business of the Week, Henningsen’s Meat Processing

RED OAK, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: Henningsen’s Meat Processing of Cass County. Throughout the 119th Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in each of Iowa's 99 counties. “Henningsen’s Meat Processing has been a cut above the rest for nearly five decades, carrying on a proud family tradition of serving up high-quality, locally sourced meat to southwest Iowa,” said Chair Ernst. “Randy and his team continue to raise the steaks by serving up quality products and giving back to the community they call home. It’s clear that service is at the meat of their mission.” Henningsen’s Meat Processing began in 1978, when Randy Henningsen returned home to Atlantic to be closer to family. Randy’s father had previously owned a meat locker that tragically burned down in 1972. Six years later, Randy, his father, and his brother carried on the family tradition by opening Henningsen’s Meat Processing to provide Atlantic and the surrounding communities with high-quality, locally sourced meat. Randy later purchased his father’s and brother’s shares and continued building on the family legacy. Today, Henningsen’s specializes in custom pork and beef processing and operates a full-service meat counter serving customers throughout southwest Iowa. Beyond its wide selection of meats, customers can find everything from fish and frog legs to locally made cheeses. Nearly 50 years after opening its doors, Henningsen’s Meat Processing continues to honor its family tradition while proudly serving the community that has supported the business for generations.
