Bennet Statement on U.S. Strikes on Iran

Washington, D.C.— Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet, a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement on the U.S. airstrikes on Iran:
“For the sake of U.S. national security and the future of the Middle East, I have long believed that the Iranian regime cannot acquire a nuclear weapon.
“President Trump said his airstrikes on Iran ‘obliterated’ the country’s nuclear program. Tomorrow, the Senate will hear the Intelligence Community’s assessment of his claim.
“After that discussion, the Senate will have an opportunity to scrutinize the necessary steps to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon – without creeping into another war in the Middle East that the American people do not want.”
