Hinson Leads Bipartisan Push for Stillbirth Prevention and Awareness

Image September 17, 2026 Press Release Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-IA-02) and Congresswoman Alma Adams (D-NC-12) partnered with U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), and Cory Booker (D-NJ) in reintroducing bipartisan legislation recognizing September 19th, 2026, as National Stillbirth Prevention and Awareness Day. Last Congress, Hinson’s bipartisan bill, the Maternal and Child Health Stillbirth Prevention Act, was signed into law by President Biden to help save lives of mothers and babies across America. With at least 25% of stillbirths being preventable, this resolution stresses the importance of advancing evidence-based stillbirth prevention efforts in the United States. "Improving prenatal education and access to maternal care—especially in rural areas where women may travel over an hour to see a provider—is critical to protecting babies and reducing maternal mortality tragedies. The bipartisan, bicameral resolution is supported by 46 organizations, including Healthy Birth Day, Inc., March of Dimes, and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses.
