Shaheen Joins New Hampshire Health Care Leaders to Discuss the Ongoing Impacts of President Trump’s Funding Freeze

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH),a top member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, spoke with representatives from New Hampshire’s Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) about how the Trump administration’s order to cut federal grants and loans impacts their ability to provide health care to patients across New Hampshire. “Community Health Centers play a vital role in providing lifesaving, comprehensive care to Granite Staters. Now, these essential and direct services are in jeopardy, and there continues to be uncertainty around their ability to access those funds in the future,”said Shaheen. “The chaos created by this decision by the Trump administration does nothing to help make life better for Americans.”
Following the Trump administration’s far-reaching decision to freeze grants and loans disbursed by the federal government, Shaheenimmediately condemnedthe move and emphasized the impact it will have on communities. Last week, Shaheenspoke on the Senate floorto condemn the Trump administration’s order to take away federal grants and loans that families, seniors and small businesses in all 50 states rely on for critical, often life-saving services. Shaheenillustrated the chaoscaused by the extreme order by sharing the stories of many Granite Staters she has heard from following the announcement.
