Himes Statement on Recent ICE Activity in Connecticut

Bridgeport, CT — Today, Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) issued the following statement regarding recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations throughout Connecticut, including in Stamford and Bridgeport: “ICE’s detention of parents as they drop their children off at school or head to work is plainly and flatly despicable. It has nothing to do with public safety — it’s cruelty for cruelty’s sake. We cannot accept these shock tactics as normal. I’ll keep fighting to hold ICE and this Administration accountable and support the immigrant communities here in Connecticut and across the country.”
