Wittman Delivers Remarks on the House Floor in Support of the GRID Power Act

WASHINGTON – Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA) delivered the following remarks on the House floor in support of the GRID Power Act. Congressman Wittman’s remarks as prepared for delivery: Thank you, I rise today in support of H.R. 1047 – the GRID Power Act. I’d like to thank Rep. Balderson for leading on this bill and for Energy and Commerce Chair Guthrie and his staff for their work on this effort. Across the First District, I hear from my constituents about the rising costs of energy. I am proud to cosponsor this bill – HR 1047 – because policies like this ensure a supply of reliable electricity generation and thus lower costs for American households while providing the necessary energy. To achieve this, we must provide Regional Transmission Organizations and Independent System Operators with the necessary authority to prioritize projects in the interconnection queue that improve grid reliability and resiliency – as HR 1047 does. By expediting resources that advance reliability, this legislation will help unleash American energy production to drive down the cost of living and restore energy dominance for families and small businesses.
