WATCH: Gallego Calls on the Justice Department to Release the Epstein Files – Again
WASHINGTON –Today,Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ)called on the Senate to passhis resolutionurging the Justice Department to release its files related to the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein.
“My request is very simple: the Senate should go on record supporting the release of the Epstein files. Any effort to block their release is simply a continued cover up of our nation’s elites.”
RepublicanSenator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK)objected and blocked the resolution’s passage through unanimous consent then offered his own resolution to compel federal and state courts to release similar files.
In response, Senator Gallego offered to combine the resolutions and call on both the Justice Department and courts to release their files, but Mullin objected again and blocked this compromise.
“This is the second time that the Senate had a chance to demand transparency and stand up for the truth. Instead, my colleague chose to protect the powerful elites.”
