With artificial intelligence advancing at a rapid pace, it is becoming harder for people to know what is real and what is not. As a former Attorney General, I know predators will use any tool to target and deceive victims, and the NO FAKES Act gives Americans a way to fight back and hold scammers accountable. I am proud to be an original cosponsor of this important legislation to protect Americans and applaud my colleagues for advancing it out of committee today,” said Senator Ashley Moody. BACKGROUND: Senator Moody is an original cosponsor of the No FAKES Act. During her time as Attorney General, Senator Moody focused on issues involving artificial intelligence and urged Congress to investigate AI and technology targeting children. She also launched a Summer Scams Series , called Tech Traps, to focus on ways scammers use artificial intelligence to target Floridians. With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, artists and creators have already begun to see their voices and likenesses used without their consent in videos and songs created as replicas. Specifically, the NO FAKES Act would: Hold individuals and companies liable if they distribute an unauthorized digital replica of an individual’s voice or visual likeness. Hold platforms liable for hosting an unauthorized digital replica if the platform has knowledge that the replica was not authorized by the individual depicted. # # # Join the Newsletter Email Address First Name Last Name Follow Follow Follow Follow Copyright 2024 Follow Follow Follow Follow Usage Policy PDF Help Privacy Policy Senate.gov
