MALDEN, MA — Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) issued the following statement: “Donald Trump lost a reckless war that he started, and the American people are paying the price. Costs for gas, groceries, and utility bills have skyrocketed. Families have been forced to make impossible choices just to get by while the president has repeatedly told them how little he cares about their financial situations. Thirteen service members have lost their lives, and hundreds more are injured. “And for what? After tearing up the JCPOA agreement President Obama secured with our allies, Trump’s ‘deal’ further emboldens Iran, leaves uncertainty around the future of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and makes America less secure. We are no closer to preventing Iran from having a nuclear weapon, yet we are lifting sanctions on their oil sales and handing our adversary $300 billion for reconstruction. Not to mention the over $100 billion that has already been wasted. “The American people deserve better from their government. They will not forget this outrageous betrayal from the GOP. Democrats are ready to win back the House, lower costs, and be a check on this out-of-control administration.” ###
