Landsman’s Bill to Lower Prescription Drug Costs for Seniors Passes

Cincinnati, OH – Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) announced his bipartisan bill to help lower prescription drug costs for millions of seniors is now law.

Congressman Landsman and Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger (R-TN-01) introduced the bipartisan Saving Seniors Money on Prescriptions Act in February 2025 to help lower the costs of prescription drugs for seniors covered by Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage by increasing oversight of Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs).

This will require PBMs – third-party companies that negotiate drug prices between manufacturers with insurance companies – to report the cost savings they achieve, which current federal law does not require. The transparency will lead to savings for seniors and Medicare.

Landsman’s bill was passed as part of a federal government health funding bill.

Congressman Landsman:

“This is a big deal for seniors and Medicare. We’ve been in this fight to lower prescription drug prices since I got to Congress – and we got it done in this budget. These PBMs have price gouging seniors and Medicare, and this new level of transparency will save both seniors and Medicare millions. We kept fighting, and we got it done.
