Chairwoman McClain’s Statement on the TAKE IT DOWN Act Signed Into Law

WASHINGTON— House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) joined President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at the signing ceremony of the Tools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks (TAKE IT DOWN) Act: “In America, we will not tolerate the exploitation of our children. This law will protect our children and families from becoming targets of digital predators,” Chairwoman McClain said . “I’m proud to have stood alongside President Trump when he signed this important legislation into law. I look forward to continuing to support his administration and the First Lady’s efforts to hold those who create harmful content accountable, ensure that platforms take responsibility, and keep our children safe in the digital age.” Chairwoman McClain has expressed her support for this bill, including during a roundtable discussion with the First Lady in April.
