I did not share many of Charlie Kirk’s views or always agree with his choice of language, but I firmly respect his right to have held those views, to speak freely, and for his supporters to assemble peacefully. These are among the fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment — freedoms that must be protected, even in the face of deep disagreement.
