Rosen Helps Reintroduce PRO Act to Support Workers’ Rights, Establish Strong Labor Standards

WASHINGTON, DC– U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) helped reintroduce theRichard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize Act, orPRO Act, comprehensive labor legislation to protect the rights of workers to stand together and bargain for fair wages, better benefits, and safer workplaces. ThePRO Actwould protect the right to organize and collectively bargain by bolstering remedies and addressing violations of workers’ rights through penalties, strengthening support for workers who suffer retaliation for exercising their rights, and authorizing a private right of action for violation of the rights of workers.
“As a former member of the Culinary Workers Union in Nevada, I know firsthand just how important unions are to empower workers and ensure their rights are protected,”said Senator Rosen.“I’m helping reintroduce the PRO Act to safeguard Nevada workers’ right to organize. I’ll keep pushing to make sure all Nevadans can bargain for higher wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions without fear of intimidation.”
As a former union member, Senator Rosen has been a strong advocate for Nevada’s workers. Last year, she helped introduce thePublic Service Freedom to Negotiate Actto federally guarantee the right of law enforcement officials and other public employees to organize and collectively bargain. Last Congress, Rosen co-sponsored theFAMILY Act, which would provide all workers with twelve weeks of paid parental, medical, and caregiving leave. Senator Rosen has also helped introduce legislation to gradually raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.
