McBath Hosts Town Hall Event with 8,100 Participants During Gun Violence Prevention & Awareness Month
Washington, DC — Last night, U.S. Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06) hosted an interactive Telephone Town Hall event with featured guest Stephanie Stone, an Associate Director with Everytown for Gun Safety. Stephanie became involved with Moms Demand Action after her son, Paul Sampleton Jr., was murdered in 2012 inside their home in Grayson, Georgia at age 14. She joined Everytown for Gun Safety in 2017 and has dedicated her life to supporting survivors, advocating for safer gun laws, and building communities of healing and action. As part of the Everytown Survivor Network team, she manages SurvivorsConnect, a peer-to-peer support program for gun violence survivors, and the Survivor Membership Lead Program, which supports volunteer survivor leaders in Moms Demand Action chapters across the country. McBath provided updates on her work in Congress, including her efforts during Gun Violence Awareness Month. Approximately 8,100 participants joined the event to listen and ask questions. “I’m grateful to all who tuned for their presence and participation as we continue to observe June as Gun Violence Prevention and Awareness Month,” said Rep. McBath . “This time is a solemn reminder of why we must continue fighting for common-sense solutions to this public health crisis that has touched far too many of our families and communities. I am especially grateful to have had my friend Stephanie Stone speak with folks. Her powerful advocacy is an inspiration, and I know her voice will continue to motivate each of us.” Any Georgia constituent in need of additional resources or assistance with any federal agency is encouraged to contact Rep. McBath’s Atlanta District Office by calling (470) 773-6330 or by visiting McBath.House.Gov/Help .
