Sen. Ossoff Helps Pass Bipartisan Legislation to Lower Housing Costs

Washington, D.C.— U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff helped pass bipartisan legislation to make housing more affordable for Georgia families.
Yesterday, Sen. Ossoff helped pass the bipartisan21st Century ROAD to Housing Act,aimed at making housing more affordable in Georgia and across the Nation.
Thebipartisan billincludes provisions to help build more homes across the country, lowering home prices for families and making homeownership more attainable. The bipartisan bill also includes a provision to limit large, out-of-state companies from buying up single-family homes.
“Georgia families urgently need more affordable housing. That’s why we brought Republicans and Democrats together to pass this legislation and help families across Georgia and the nation,”Sen. Ossoff said.
Sen. Ossoff continues working to lower housing prices for Georgia families.
Last August, Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together torequirea Federal watchdog investigation into the housing affordability crisis and to help ID solutions to the crisis.
In 2025, Sen. Ossofflaunched an investigationinto large, out-of-state companies purchasing single-family homes across the State of Georgia, raising prices for families and reducing the supply of family homes available for purchase.
Also in 2025, Sens. Ossoff and Ashley Moody (R-FL)introducedthe bipartisanHomes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder (HELPER) Act of 2025, which would establish a new home loan program under the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) for law enforcement, fire fighters, medical first responders, and teachers.
In 2024, Sen. OssoffintroducedtheAccess to Homeownership Actto require landlords that receive financing through the Federal government, including through Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, for multifamily properties like apartment buildings to offer tenants the ability to have their on-time rental payments reported to credit bureaus.
In 2024, Sen. Ossoffdelivered$2,000,000 in Federal resources to Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, supporting its ongoing work in the Browns Mill Village Development, a mixed-income community of owner-occupied homes in Atlanta, and Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnockdelivered$1,987,070 in Federal resources for Troup County Habitat for Humanity to upgrade housing conditions across the Chattahoochee Valley.
In 2023, Sens. Ossoff, Rev. Warnock, and Rep. Williams (GA-05)delivereda historic $40 million investment — secured with bipartisan support in Congress — to build more affordable housing units in the City of Atlanta.
