CAMBRIDGE, MA – Yesterday, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) joined the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) to celebrate the grand reopening of its Birth Center. The CHA Birth Center closed in March 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. It will reopen for deliveries on July 6, providing urgently needed maternal care. “We are in the midst of an outright maternal health crisis. Across the country, 1 in 3 counties don’t have a single safe space to give birth. Here in Massachusetts, we are making clear that it doesn’t have to be this way,” said Democratic Whip Katherine Clark. “The reopening of this center is a signal to women across the Commonwealth and through the country: We’re going to keep fighting for a healthcare system worthy of working moms.” “We are proud to offer the CHA Birth Center as part of our excellent options for childbirth and maternal health services,” said Cambridge Health Alliance CEO Assaad Sayah, MD. “We continually listen and respond to our communities and understood this is a critical need that aligns with our mission to improve the health of our communities.” To view photos from yesterday’s event, click HERE . ###
