Jayapal Statement on FISA No Vote

04.29.2026 | News Jayapal Statement on FISA No Vote WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) released the following statement after voting NO on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Section 702 reauthorization: “Today, we saw House Republicans once again fold rather than stand up for the American people — their constituents. They allowed a FISA reauthorization to be jammed through without any reforms requiring the FBI to obtain warrants before accessing the American people’s private communications. This authority has been misused under Democratic and Republican Presidents. Reforms have never been more necessary than right now as President Trump and Stephen Miller brazenly use domestic surveillance to suppress our rights. Congress should not be handing the executive branch the ability to continue running roughshod over our constitutional rights. “This bill is an insult to the American people and I voted NO.” Share: Facebook Twitter Mail
